Fezco was undoubtedly one of the key players of Euphoria season 2. Fans grew closer to Fez as the show shared more of his backstory and more of his relationships and personal life outside of his business. We all noticed how much attention Fez garnered this season, on-screen and off-screen, from the very first episode to the season finale — and, of course, so did the actor who plays him: Angus Cloud.

As an actor on a hit series like Euphoria, seeing your name, or hashtags related to you, trend every week can be an exhilarating, double-edged sword. Oftentimes, fans begin to mix features of the character you portray and who you are IRL. Angus knows this well. In a new interview with British magazine The Face, the actor took the opportunity to open up about the good, bad, and the ugly of fame, now that Fezco is seemingly on everyone’s radars.

Though the star admitted that getting recognized on the streets is mildly amusing, there are some elements of fame he’s struggling to adapt to. “I always have to say: ‘Hello, my name is Angus.’ And they’re like: ‘We know!’" said Angus. "You lose that proper introduction that you would normally have with a person. I’m still getting used to that. It’s strange. I hate that people are trying to detective work into my past, it bothers me … But it’s, whatever, I haven’t got anything to hide.”

Recently, a clip of Angus working his old waiter job in NYC went viral on TikTok, and it’s precisely this type of content that he doesn’t appreciate being resurfaced. “Those motherf*ckers found my old Facebook – we didn’t even know how to use Facebook back then!” he said. “They must have pulled up some sh*t from when I was like 10 years old.”

“I don’t like being special. I don’t want to be special. I like being regular. I don’t want people to open doors for me like I’m like a prince or some sh*t. I do really appreciate it, though,” Angus said, noting how people’s perception of him has changed since Euphoria first premiered. “I open doors for people, too, you know? But it’s getting to a point where I’m uncomfortable with special treatment. I’m not comfortable with it. I’m just a regular dude, man.”

Angus echoed these sentiments while speaking to Chase Sui for Interview Magazine back in February 2022. The actor told Sui that “people knowing me and recognizing who I am” was one of the aspects of fame that “f*cked” with his mind — his words, not ours.

“I’d rather people didn’t recognize me. I’m not mad at them because they do, but I’d rather they didn’t. I just want to have regular interactions with people," Angus elaborated. “I prefer to meet somebody who was famous and not know who the f*ck they were, and just have a regular interaction with them and then maybe I’ll figure out, ‘Oh man, they’re in a movie? That’s cool.’”
