What is Toyotas new green color called?

Who wants a boring old SUV, when you could have a vehicle the color of a ripe piece of fresh fruit? That must be what Toyota is thinking anyway, as they release their newest hue for the 2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro. While the Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro has certainly come in some interesting colors in the past, the TRD Pro’s color this year is sure to turn heads.

What is the 2022 TRD Pro Color?

The 2022 Toyota 4Runner is coming in a fresh new lime rush color. Every year Toyota offers a new color for the TRD Pro. This year, according to Kelley Blue Book, it will be Lime Rush. Just as the name suggests, this is a bright green color. If you want people to notice your brand new 2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro, there’s no better way to make sure that happens then by getting your 4Runner in Lime Rush. 

Toyota will also be offering a vibrant green color for its 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro. This is a slightly different green, called Electric Lime Metallic. These two colors are very similar unless they’re right next to each other, but this likely won’t be an issue for you. If you’re interested in a pickup truck, you’ll probably be looking at the 2022 Toyota Tacoma. If you want a new, rugged SUV, you’ll want the 2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro. 

What is new for the 2022 Toyota 4Runner

The 2022 Toyota 4Runner is largely the same as previous Toyota 4Runner models. However, one noticeable difference is that the newest 2022 Toyota 4Runner models will have better safety technology. In older Toyota 4Runners, this safety equipment would have cost extra. Toyota is clearly staying on trend with other car manufacturers that are making safety features standard in all of their vehicles. 

So what are these new safety features? The 2022 Toyota 4Runner will come with better headlights. This is a welcome change, since so many vehicles on the road today have lackluster headlights. With more than half of fatal accidents occurring at night, good headlights are paramount. 

The 2022 Toyota 4Runner will also have an alert if the driver leaves something or someone in the backseat. This is designed to help parents who may forget a child in the backseat, or a pet. Sometimes this happens when a routine is changed, and the alarm could be vital. Of course it’s not meant to replace your attention if you have children or pets with you, but it’s an added safety measure.

How much will the 2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro cost?

The 2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro is the top of the line 4Runner, and you’ll pay for the distinction. While the cheapest 2022 Toyota 4Runner starts at just $37,305, the 2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro will cost you $52,120. 

If you don’t want to spend that much but you also don’t want the base trim level, you do have other options. The Trail Special Edition, for example, is $39,275. Or you could opt for the TRD Off-Road, which will set you back $41,135. For roughly $3,000 more you could get the 2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off-Road Premium. 

With a fun, vibrant color like the Lime Rush of the 2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro, it’s probably going to be a best-selling truck. And wouldn’t it be great to see a whole bunch of lime green SUVs and pickup trucks dotting the roads and highways?

At first we thought Toyota grabbed a 4Runner and Tacoma from 2015, painted in the original Inferno Orange TRD Pro signature color. After speaking with a Toyota executive, CarBuzz learned they were actually rushed from their respective factories to be displayed at the event. This is the first time either model has been shown in Solar Octane. While Lime Rush (4Runner) and Electric Lime Metallic (Tacoma) were neat colors, we much prefer this new orange paint. It also reconnects the TRD Pro family with one signature color rather than each model having its own.

As you can see from our photos, which were admittedly taken on an iPhone, Solar Octane is an eye-popping hue that is difficult to capture accurately. Like many orange paints, it looks red (or almost pink) in certain lighting. Toyota's official press photos of the Tundra more accurately convey what the color looks like in person.

Solar Octane is exclusively available as a TRD Pro color for 2023, though Toyota has been known to make these colors available on other trims in subsequent models years. Along with the new color, the 2023 Tacoma gains new styling packages and the 2023 4Runner receives a 40th Anniversary Special Edition. While owners are excited to see the next-generation 4Runner and Tacoma, which will likely borrow the twin-turbocharged powertrain from the Tundra and Sequoia, both models' sales show no signs of slowing down.
