Divorced transfer case identification

Can anybody identify this divorced transfer case for me? It has no plate and has no stamped identification. It is a 2 lever type and is in good condition. It has an aluminium alloy body.

Divorced T-Case.

Hi Beboy, My Guess is transfer case belongs to a Toyota Land Cruiser. Its not a TATA, as I have a 407 T-Case and the Tata designs are Styer-Oerlikon Type. (TMB & 407 have similar shift pattern 2H-4L)

What is a Divorced Transfer Case?

The T-Case is connected to the Main Gearbox by a propeller shaft. This is a feature mainly is useful for Trucks above 1.5Ton Payload, as the Gearbox Mounts don't have to carry the additional weight of the T-Case. Also allows for great flexibility in engine options, and retain 4WD system. Dwarka can add the details here. The following vehicles in INDIA use Divorced T-Case. 1) Maruti Gypsy 2) Trax Gurkha/4WD 3) Tata Mercedes Benz (TMB) 4) Tata LPTA Series 713 5) Ashok Leyland Stallion (ALS) 6) Shaktiman aka MAN630A 7) Tata 407 8) Swaraj 4WD (3500T) 9) Kraz 255b/260b These are all I can think of Bikram Sandhu, can surely add more details. Regards,

Arka

Does any one have the picture of under chassis of the Trax Gurkha? Will make things clear. Arka said the connection between the gear box and the T/C is through a shaft. I want to see that.

As a addendum to Arka's post ... A transfer case is the "second" gear box in 4X4 vehicles like the gypsy. This does the duty of transferring power to the 2W and 4W drive and also regulates the low and high gearing. In some 4X4 vehicles this is incorporated into the gear box itself. While some others have a separate T-case. Cheers

I've no idea too about the transfer case in question. Just to clarify Vinod, here is the picture of divorced transfer case in Shaktiman recovery truck. See the arrow mark showing drive shaft that runs from main gear box to this transfer case.

I have a Trax Xfer case picture, but it doesn't look like that at all, besides the trax unit has a yoke output, not a flange one, and its got a right side front output, not a left one, with the PTO plate under the xfercase.

There are'nt many smaller xfercases with a pto output, and Toyota, ever since they moved to divorced units, mostly use heavyduty cases, but that does'nt mean this may not be a Toyota unit. Infact in all possibility it could be one, coz there are just so many different models used around the globe. Whats the physical size of the case??
