Have you been ignoring your makeup? We feel you. Surely, the new lockdown made you just not want to not think about your makeup products and of course you are low-key afraid that they are soon going to expire without even truly being worn. So you open your favourite makeup palette just to see how its doing and bam! It's broken and you wonder how cool it would be if it just didn't have to be broken because we are all already going through enough in life, currently! It may be brand new or simply your favourite, but when a compact powder format makeup palette like eyeshadow or blush falls down, the powder just breaks into a million little pieces. It is completely unsanitary to scoop the product from the floor and fix it, but if the makeup broke but remained safe in the case then you may have a shot. This quick fix trick is all you need!

Step 1When you open the palette and see the broken fragments of the eyeshadow or blush, segregate the powders to their sections carefully. Take a clean spatula and press on the broken pieces to crush it and even it out. You should have loose powder of the pigments clearly segregated and evened out in their respected plates within the case.

Step 2Reach for your hand sanitiser or isopropyl alcohol. Add a few drops to the crushed powder and mix witht he spatula. You will notice the powder being combined by the alcohol. Spread to even it out. Now all you have to do is cover it with cling wrap and let it dry overnight.Et voilà! Your makeup palette is fixed and as good as new.

Hi everyone!

I literally drop powder forms of makeup all the time. I don’t know what it is about them that makes me lose all control of holding them but, it happens and until a few days ago I had no idea they could be salvaged.

I was on a ‘chucking out makeup spree’ and came across two different powder compacts that I loved and couldn’t bare to throw away when they first smashed, one is a bronzer and the other a pressed powder.

Little me did some research and I have found a way to fix my powder makeup without using alcohol (rubbing alcohol). I haven’t actually done it before so, let’s see how it turns out

This was my bronzer, looking poor and shattered. I had kept it hidden away in my makeup bag, unable to use it in fear of  it dropping absolutely everywhere.

All you need to do is take a toothpick and smash up the powder makeup even more. I know it’s annoying and quite sad but, you have to get rid of the lumps for it to work.

Mine needed to be smashed up with the toothpick even more than this so, keep going until it is virtually lump-less! It did get a little messy for me so I did need to remove some excess from the top of my smashed bronzer. I smashed it when it was only a few days old so, it was quite full.

Next you need to take a makeup wipe. It doesn’t matter what kind, just make sure your hands are completely washed and clean before doing this next step as we don’t want your smashed makeup to have any unwanted bacteria passed on.

I love these makeup wipes from amazon. They are so cheap and feel so lovely on your skin (they also help fight spots). You can check them out by clicking here if you are in the EU or US.

All you to do is take your finger and begin pressing down firmly on the makeup wipe. Keep pressing until you feel no lumps or loose bits of the powder, you may need another makeup wipe if your broken powder is as full as mine as it gets quite messy!

Now, taking the end of your makeup wipe or a Q-tip wipe around the edges to clean it up and that’s it! your broken powder should be fixed!

Considering this was my first try I also decided to try it with my other smashed powder which was a sheer finish pressed powder. It was smashed when I bought it and I was so annoyed because it did cost me more than I would usually pay for a setting powder. But, anyway! let’s try this quick fix on this baby!

This time around I made sure to really crumble the powder with my toothpick, this is the key. I may even go back to my bronzer and smash it up again so, that is has the same smooth finish that the finishing powder has but, i’ll see how it goes over the next few days of using it!

As you can see by smashing it up in to even tinier little pieces it worked even better than the first time around. I used the exact same method with the makeup wipe and firm pressing motion and seem to have fixed my two broken powders.

I hope this helped you! if it did please let me know in the comments below and also, let me know of any quick fixes you know of!

How to fix eyeshadow palette without alcohol

If you’ve ever dropped a palette or opened your makeup bag only to find everything coated in a powdery mess, you’re not alone. Every beauty junkie has probably experienced the heartache of seeing their favorite eyeshadow palette, foundation, or blush shattered into pieces.

Hard as we might try to keep our makeup products in pristine condition, beauty-related accidents are bound to happen. And when they do, sometimes we think that the only solution is to toss the makeup and buy a new one, which is definitely quite devastating if you splurged on a premium product. Fortunately, there are ways to fix broken makeup, which can save you a couple of bucks, as well as the trouble of going to the store to buy a new palette.

You can find a ton of tutorials online on how to fix broken powder makeup, but they typically involve adding a few drops of rubbing alcohol into the powder. If you’re not crazy about the idea of putting alcohol in your favorite products, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

You can find a ton of tutorials online on how to fix broken powder makeup, but they typically involve adding a few drops of rubbing alcohol into the powder. If you’re not crazy about the idea of mixing alcohol into your favorite products, don’t worry because we’ve found three super-simple (but equally effective) methods. Keep reading for a step-by-step guide on how to fix broken powders.

Setting Spray

Step 1: Crush the broken powder into smaller pieces

This might seem counterintuitive, but crushing up the broken pieces of your powder makeup prevents lumps and will result in a more even final product.

With a toothpick, break up all the chunks of broken powder until you have a fine powder. You can also use the tip of a makeup brush or a small spatula for this.

If the pan is too small, transfer the makeup into a small bowl. This will help make mixing easier and keep your compact clean.

Step 2: Add setting spray

With your setting spray of choice, add a few drops or spritzes to the loose powder. Start with one to two drops for a small pan of eyeshadow and three to four drops for larger products like blush or powder compacts. Mix it until fully incorporated. It should look like a thick paste. If it’s still dry, add more setting spray one drop at a time. Once you achieve the desired consistency, pour it back into the original container.

Step 3: Flatten and smoothen

Use a spoon or makeup spatula to spread the mixture evenly into the pan. Depending on the surface area of your makeup, you can also use a quarter or nickel covered in saran wrap to press the powder. Hold it down for 10 seconds, then slowly lift the coin. Once the mixture has been flattened, smooth over the entire surface with an eyeshadow brush.

Step 4: Clean up

This process can get quite messy, so don’t worry if you accidentally dirty up your eyeshadow palette or compact. Simply use a tissue to wipe off the edges. If the mixture dries up, use an eyeshadow brush dipped in a bit of water or rubbing alcohol to get rid of any smears.

Step 5: Let it dry

Now that your powder has been pressed into place, let it dry for a few hours. Ideally, you should leave it overnight. It’ll be ready to use the next day!

Makeup Wipes

This method is super easy to do and works on any powder makeup, from broken blush to bronzer to eyeshadow. Use a toothpick to crush the powder into small pieces. Grind it up as much as possible; the finer the powder is, the better it will turn out.

Then, place a makeup wipe over the powder and press down firmly with your finger for about five to 10 seconds. Keep pressing until the loose bits of powder solidify and no lumps remain. For smoother results, take a coin or any object with a flat surface and wrap this in a makeup wipe. Use this to press down the powder.

Once everything has been pressed firmly into place, your makeup will be ready for use.

Turn It Into a Loose Powder

As much as you wish you could go back in time, a broken blush, bronzer, or face powder is still completely usable. In fact, you can embrace its new state entirely by turning it into a loose powder.

Place the broken powder into a sealable bag, then use the back of a spoon to crush it into a fine powder. Empty the contents into a small sieve, then sift to remove any lumps. Place this into a clean container, and voíla, you’ve got yourself a perfectly good loose powder!
