90° Street Elbows - Heavy Pattern 150# Threaded Pipe Fittings - Cast

90 degree street elbows have Male National Pipe Taper (NPT) threads on one end and female NPT threads on the other, for changing flow direction between two pipes. Our high quality standard pattern 150 lb rated stainless steel threaded pipe fittings are manufactured to the highest standards. All stainless steel pipe fittings are monitored by quality control personnel for strict compliance with applicable standards & specifications. These stainless steel pipe fittings are excellent for uses that involve chemicals or liquids that may be corrosive. Along with fighting corrosion, a stainless steel pipe fitting will prevent contamination making it useful to many professionals.

This 45-degree street elbow pipe fitting is made of brass barstock and has a 1/4" female National Pipe Taper (NPT) threaded connection and a 1/4" male NPT threaded connection. This 45-degree street elbow fitting, or "street ell," connects two pipes, one with a male end and the other with a female end, at a 45-degree angle to change the direction of flow between pipes. It has female NPT threads on one end and male NPT threads on the other for connecting a male and a female threaded pipe. The NPT threads create a tighter seal than straight threads. This fitting is made from brass barstock for corrosion resistance, ductility at high temperatures, and low magnetic permeability. Brass barstock is machined to creating a seamless, dense material that resists splitting and leaking. Brass can be connected to copper, brass, plastic, aluminum, and welded steel. The operating temperatures for this fitting range from -53 to 121 degrees C (-65 to 250 degrees F).

Pipe fittings are components used for connecting, terminating, controlling flow, and changing the direction of piping in many different industries. When purchasing pipe fittings, consider the application, as this will affect material type, shape, size, and required durability. Fittings are available threaded or unthreaded, in many shapes, styles, sizes, and schedules (pipe wall thickness).

Note:NPT cannot be accurately calvulated with a linear measuring tool like a Tape Measure, Ruler or Caliper. NPT Thread size is NOT determined by its outside thread diameter in inches.

45 Degree Street Elbows are used with manual, automatic cyclic, continuous, and positive displacement central lubrication pumps.

What degree is a street elbow?

45° street elbow (copper sweat)

A street elbow (sometimes called a street ell or service ell) is a type of plumbing or piping fitting intended to join a piece of pipe and another fitting at an angle. The difference between a street elbow and a regular elbow is the gender of its two connections.

A regular elbow has a hub or female-threaded connection on each end, so it can join two male pipes. Instead, a street elbow has a female fitting on one end and a male fitting on the other. The advantage of the street elbow is that it can be connected directly to another fitting without having to use an additional short connecting piece (a pipe nipple).

Applications

Street elbows are available with bend angles of 90°, 45°, and 22.5°. They can be used in many plumbing applications, including water supply, drainage, sewers, vents, central vacuum systems, compressed air and gas lines, heating and air conditioning, sump pump drains, and other locations where plumbing fittings would be used to join sections of pipe.

Plumbing codes regulate the use of street elbows. For example, Canada's national plumbing code prohibits them in natural gas and propane installations:[1]

Street elbows and tees are not permitted because these fittings have both male and female threaded ends. This makes alignment of the piping difficult since the direction of the piping does not always correspond with the fully seated position of the fitting. When the connection is backed off to align the piping, leakage may result.
