O.P. Hola expert internet types. Here is the story: Optus business NBN connected current premises August 2020. I set up via the supplied Sage 5366, then swapped it out for a NetcommNF18ACV I had lying around bridged into a TP Link AC1800 trio (Deco 20) because...well doesn't matter. Needed to. So..all good for 14 months – then intermittent and repeated drop outs over last week culminating in no internet Friday – no bueno. Solid DSL connection but no internet with either modem – Sage 5366 or the Netcomm. Usual factory resets, hard boots etc etc. Not a peep. Packed away the NetcommNF18ACV / TP Link AC1800. Most likely retired now. So (very) reluctantly yesterday began the particular torture of trying to get a solution out of Optus via their Asian call centres on a Sunday which naturally spilled over to today and I suspect will grind into eternity while I lose the will to live. Currently I am waiting for NBN Co to get around to responding to an Optus request for a line test, and then a service call. If neither of those then Optus want to go with a replacement modem, none of which I have time for. So will port over to a local (as in Hobart) company I like and never should have left. Now onto the fun part. 1. Any ideas / informed speculations why I have a solid DSL connection but no internet, and why Optus can't see their modem? FYI I noticed that the dropouts coincided with a) some fairly major and unexpected waterworks down the road the Saturday before the problems began and b) my deciding to try out Mullvard as a VPN (which the Deco did not like at all): the VPN particularly on my phone dropped out all the time. 2. Secondly assuming I live long enough to actually get my internet back – any recommendations for an AC extender? Not TP Link or any that log your activity. Needs to be a "plug into a wall socket and join the network" type. And yes.. I know if it's fixed it should really have an ethernet connection....but problems with that. Ta very muchly. Page 2
