How to forget hm moves diamond

Hidden Moves, or HMs, are vital for you to complete your quest in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. BDSP are remakes of Diamond and Pearl, but HMs work differently completely different from how they did in the original games. Keep reading to learn how to use Hidden Moves in Pokemon BDSP and how to unlock them all.

1. Once you have unlocked the Hidden Move and met the prerequisites to use it, it will automatically activate when you interact with the object.
   • For example, interact with a rock that can be smashed with the A button and Rock Smash will automatically activate and destroy the rock.
2. Hidden Moves like Defog, however, need to be activated with the Poketch app.

In the original Diamond and Pearl, HMs were items that taught your Pokemon special moves. These special moves can be used outside of battle in order to get past a certain obstacle. For example, HM Cut would teach one of your Pokemon the move Cut which will allow it to cut throw small trees in the overworld.

The downside to how HMs used to work was the fact that there were 8 HMs. So that meant you will need to spread eight moves within your party of six, and all HMs were needed to get through obstacles in the games. HMs were also notoriously not great moves to use in battle, with Surf and Fly being the only useful HMs.

Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl changes that though. After receiving your first HM, you will unlock the Hidden Move app, which you can access on your Poketch. Rather than one of your Pokemon needing to know the move to use it, the app will instead allow you to summon a random wild Pokemon to do the move for you instead. This frees you from the burden of teaching your party any of the HM movies. Now all HMs are normal TMs that you can still teach your Pokemon.

There are eight HMs in total that you can unlock on your app. Each HM requires a specific Gym Badge in order for you to use them outside of battle.

Here are the eight HMs, where to get them, and how to use them. All HMs can be used within your Poketch app, but a lot of HMs also can be used by simply interacting with certain objects in the overworld:

• Rock Smash - Talk to the Hiker at the Oreburgh Gate. Requirement - Coal Badge. How to use it - When you come across brown rocks, interact with them and you're given the option to use Rock Smash to destroy them.
• Cut - Talk to Cynthia north of Eterna City. Requirement - Forest Badge. How to use it - Interact with a small tree to Cut it down.
• Fly - Inside Team Galactic Warehouse at Veilstone City. Requirement - Cobble Badge. How to use it - Either select Fly on your Poketch app or select a town you want to travel to on your Town Map.
• Defog - Talk to the Ace Trainer at the entrance of the Great Marsh in Pastoria City. Requirement - Fen Badge. How to use it - When in an area that is covered with fog, select the Defog option in your Poketch app. It will clear the fog for you. For more, read How to Get Defog.
  
• Surf - Cynthia's Grandmother will hand it to you after you defeat Team Galactic in Celestic Town. Requirement - Relic Badge. How to use it - When on the edge of a body of water, press the 'A' button to receive the option to Surf on the water.
• Strength - Talk to the old woman on the top floor of the Lost Tower on Route 209. Requirement - Mine Badge. How to use it - When you come across a grey boulder, interact with it to get the option to move it with Strength. After selecting to use Strength the first time, you can move all boulders in the room without selecting Strength again until you leave. For more, read How to Get Strength.
• Rock Climb - In the long stretch of walking in the snow on Route 217, there is a house on the west side. Talk to the Hiker NPC inside, and he will say he dropped the Rock Climb HM/TM outside. It will be right behind his house. Requirement - Icicle Badge. How to use it - When you come across a row of rocks on the side of a mountain, you can interact with them to climb up.
  
• Waterfall - Talk to Jasmine, Gym Leader from the Johto Region, on the beach of Sunyshore City after defeating the Sunyshore City Gym Leader.
  Requirement - Beacon Badge.
