A solution is prepared by adding 40g of sugar in 100g of water calculate the concentration by mass

Given,
           mass of sugar (m1) = 40 g
mass of water (m2) = 100 g           So, mass of solution (M) = mass of water + mass of sugar

                                                  = m1 + m2

                                                 = 100 g + 40 g                                                   = 140 g So, the mass by mass percentage of the solution = (mass of sugar / mass of solution) * 100                                                                               = (40 / 140) * 100

                                                                             = 28.57 % (approx.)
